Dr Victoria Dunne

Dr Victoria Dunne is a Lecturer in Molecular Radiotherapy at the Johnston Cancer Research Centre, Queen’s University Belfast. She obtained her PhD from Queen’s University Belfast (2014–2017), where her research focused on understanding the mechanistic basis of radiotherapy combination strategies to maximise tumour response while minimising normal tissue toxicity.

Her research programme focuses on the development of next-generation molecular radiotherapy approaches for advanced prostate cancer, with particular interests in targeted radionuclide therapy, radiobiology, DNA damage response pathways and treatment resistance. Victoria was awarded a highly competitive Prostate Cancer UK Early Career Fellowship in 2022, which supported the development of her independent translational research programme and included a six-month research secondment at Oslo University Hospital. Through this collaboration, she gained specialised expertise in targeted alpha therapy and PSMA-targeted lead-212 (²¹²Pb) radiopharmaceuticals.

Victoria leads the Molecular Radiotherapy Research Laboratory at Queen’s University Belfast and is developing innovative precision molecular radiotherapy strategies aimed at improving outcomes for patients with advanced prostate cancer through the integration of radiobiology, functional genomics and translational preclinical research.
